TIDES hosts a discussion on cooperation between government and volunteer efforts during disaster relief

On March 28, 2013 TIDES Project brought together representatives from World Cares Center, a New York City-based NGO helping disaster victims, and Federal Emergency Management Agency, along with other interested parties active in disaster response and preparedness, in order to discuss the role of non-profit organizations in post-Hurricane Sandy disaster relief.  The discussion centered on the role of NGOs in domestic disaster recovery and on the relationship between federal and state disaster response initiatives and domestic volunteer organizations. Participants included representatives from USNORTHCOM, Naval Postgraduate School, Defense Logistics Agency, Humanity Road, Team Rubicon, Lockheed Martin and National Defense University.
